The back reads:
This month is based around the theme of January and features a fox on a garden fence. It features the Wolf moon which is connected to wolves entering villages in search of food in cold, hard winters. I was delighted to be visited by two beautiful foxes last week to my garden in their own hunt for food. I photographed one sat on the fence outside my studio!
The painting also features a statue of Janus. In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus is the god of beginnings, gates, transitions, time, duality, doorways, passages, frames, and endings. He is usually depicted as having two faces and he presided over the beginning and ending of conflict, hence war and peace and city and country.
