My Mindful Moment series are 12 pieces that will directly fund my own therapy this year, I will be releasing a painting on the last day of each month that I've painted mindfully that will directly fund my own therapy and hopefully I can raise awareness of mental health issues, reduce the stigma and create some good conversations and support to others.

As I'm still having therapy I still need to raise funds to pay for this service (especially crucial currently with all that's going on in my life). So I've decided to continue the Mindful moment series but with a new theme! This series will follow closely with the seasons that we experience month to month here in the UK. This includes the full moon each month and its meanings, any wiccan/pagan sabbats from the wheel of the year and the correspondences they have. I hope to guide you through a full year of connecting back to nature and the meanings behind old traditions

This month's full moon was the "pink moon" and as pink is my favorite colour I decided to go all out!

This piece is supposed to depict that atmosphere when it's a heavy April shower, but the sun is still shining through at golden hour. The animals are desperate to go out and play despite the rainfall so dart about in getting soggy!

April is associated with magpies, hares and fertility. I decided to paint two magpies for luck (an old folkore - one for sorrow, two for joy) they are considered some of the cleverest birds. They have been documented playing chase with hares and I can just imagine the three bopping around in the rain.

As it has been Easter and Spring is in full swing a hare seemed very fitting. In early Saxon times the Goddess Eostre, from whom the Christian feast of Easter takes its name, was said to rule over the spring. Her sacred animal was the hare which was also the symbol of the moon. It so happens that the gestation period of a hare is 28 days which is comparable with the moon’s monthly cycle. It’s interesting to note that a human womb's monthly cycle is affected by the hormone oestrogen and also lasts about 28 days.
